The archive behind the investigations

Every frame is original work, catalogued with its location, its date, and a caption a student can cite.

The geothermal set alone runs to more than two hundred and sixty frames from Yellowstone, photographed across repeated visits between 2013 and 2021, in summer and in deep winter. Alongside it sits work from Greenland, Iceland and the Colorado Plateau.

Only a handful of those frames reach a lesson. The rest matter anyway: an investigation is only as good as the choice behind the photograph at the top of it, and that choice needs something to choose from.

A browsable collection is being prepared. Until then, the published investigations are the way in.
